After commenting last month that I thought coffee prices were going to head lower we now see prices at a level of support around the $2.40 a pound level on NYMEX. Break through this support level and prices could be on their way back to $2.00. Here’s hoping

Choosing Your Coffee

It just struck me today that for some, choosing a chair, a table and a colour of paint for the walls is of key importance to get people in the door of their cafe and restaurant. While it is true that a nice establishment will entice people through your door you must always remember that this will only get them over the threshold of your door once. As a result it is of critical importance that you spend more time and in my opinion more of your budget in ensuring that you have the best produce, menu and coffee that you can afford so customers return again and again. Remember people don’t eat a table or drink a chair, it is the food and the coffee which they return for and talk about. So like a wine menu, spend a little time thinking about the quality of coffee on offer in your establishment. Ensure that you have a coffee for all tastes, not just yours and come and see me so I can guide you in your choice for a great quality coffees

Global Coffee Prices Back on the increase yet again

Despite recent stock market turmoil commodity prices have held their own on recent weeks and are now tracking back higher yet again. Given recent market volatility however it is uncertain were global prices seem to be heading in the medium term. A push back through 2011 highs could see New York Arabica prices head on toward $3.60. However, with some hedge funds under a bit of pressure I would hope not to see this and have some of the speculative influence come out of the softs market and push prices back below $2.40 in the short to medium term. If we break this price level prices could get back toward $1.80 by the end of the year.

New Website

Unfortunately the website gave up the ghost at the weekend and could not be recovered, so a forced revamp had to be hastily put together. Glad to hear any feedback you have on the new site and what you would like to see.
